Agile through life
What is
agil
ity?
Agility describes the ability to quickly perceive information in the environment (mostly visual), process it, and convert it into a motor action. In addition to cognitive and sensory components, muscle strength also contributes to agility.
Agility is crucial in sports when athletes have to react to situations in the game by changing their running direction within a very short time. But good agility also helps in everyday life to execute movements in a targeted and safe manner and to react to dangers in time.

If agility is not trained, it will decrease with age. This is caused by a reduction in visual and cognitive abilities but also by the loss of muscle strength and balance. With increasing age, reactions become slower and motor actions more unstable. As a result, the risk of accidents and, in particular, falls increases with age.
Agility training can counteract this development and maintain health and independence into old age. Athletes also benefit from faster actions and reactions on the court to literally stay one step ahead of the opponent.

With SKILLCOURT Training
To improve agility, SKILLCOURT offers a variety of general and sport-specific workouts. Sport-specific agility exercises are based on situations and running routes of different sports and can also be performed with a ball.
General agility training requires different forms of direction change as they occur in everyday life. In addition, the SKILLCOURT distinguishes between planned and reactive agility training. In planned agility drills, the running routes are known and the training primarily focuses on the physical component of agility performance. Reactive agility training requires responding to an external stimulus and increases the demand on sensory and cognitive skills. This allows the workout to be selected specifically for the training goal. Different performance tests enable regular monitoring of the training progress.

Agility is the ability to perceive and process information within a very short time and to convert it into a goal-oriented motor action. Both sensory (mostly visual), cognitive, and physical (mainly muscle strength) components contribute to agility performance.
The SKILLCOURT offers the right agility training for every training goal. Whether planned or reactive agility, sport-specific or general, with ball or without. SKILLCOURT training adapts to your needs to achieve the best training results.
For sport-specific movements, the SKILLCOURT includes a variety of agility drills. When it comes to direction changes and reactive agility, the “Random Run” and the “Random Run Plus” with a higher demand on the visual and cognitive functions are the best choice.

In everyday life, road traffic and sports, we have to adapt our movements to changes in the environment at lightning speed. The better our agility is trained, the safer we act in everyday life, the more independent we are in old age and the better we perform on the court.
Agility is influenced by the abilities of perception and cognition as well as muscle strength. All components decline with age, resulting in impaired agility. With targeted training, the SKILLCOURT can counteract this loss of performance.
